چکیده

Background: Due to high mortality of patients with metastatic breast cancer and limited strategies for management this malignancy, development novel therapeutic approaches anti-cancer agents is essential. Objectives: In the present study, we investigated in vitro anti-proliferative effects hydroxytyrosol, as a natural chemotherapeutic agent, against cells MDA-MB-231 MCF-7. Methods: The anti-proliferation activity hydroxytyrosol on both MCF-7 was evaluated by MTT assay. Apoptosis percentage assessed flow cytometry treated untreated cells. Moreover, expression three apoptotic genes (BAX, BCL2, CASP3) real-time PCR Results: Our results indicated that exerted an appropriate dose- time-dependent manner. We observed significant increase apoptosis compared controls. addition, upregulated pro-apoptotic BAX CASP3 while downregulated anti-apoptotic BCL2 gene. Conclusions: findings study suggested effect may be due induction through modification

Anti-Proliferative Activity of λ-Carrageenan Through the Induction of Apoptosis in Human Breast Cancer Cells

BACKGROUND Sulfated Polysaccharides (SPs) possess spectrum of pharmacological and therapeutic properties that could attributed to their origins variation, chemical structures and biological activities. Various studies have shown the impact of SPs on proliferation in different cancer cell lines. OBJECTIVES In this study, we have evaluated the biological effects of λ-carrageenan, a highly SP, e...

Anti-proliferative effect and apoptotic induction of sesquiterpene lactone parthenolide in a human breast cancer cell line

Parthenolide is a secondary metabolite, which naturally occurs in the feverfew plant and is responsible for its healing power. The potential of parthenolide in inhibition of cancer cell growth, alone or in combination with other anti-cancer therapeutics, have been studied in several laboratories. In this study, the effect of extracted parthenolide on the expression of seven pro-apoptotic genes,...

Effects of berberine on proliferation, cell cycle distribution and apoptosis of human breast cancer T47D and MCF7 cell lines

Objective(s):Berberine, a naturally occurring isoquinoline alkaloid, has shown antitumor properties in some in vitro systems. But the effect of berberine on breast cancer has not yet been completely studied. In this study, we evaluated anticancer properties of berberine in comparison to doxorubicin. Materials and Methods: The antiproliferative effects of berberine and doxorubicin alone and in ...

Anti-proliferative and apoptosis-inducing activity of lycopene against three subtypes of human breast cancer cell lines

Although lycopene, a major carotenoid component of tomatoes, has been suggested to attenuate the risk of breast cancer, the underlying preventive mechanism remains to be determined. Moreover, it is not known whether there are any differences in lycopene activity among different subtypes of human breast cancer cells. Using ER/PR positive MCF-7, HER2-positive SK-BR-3 and triple-negative MDA-MB-46...

Anti-proliferative and apoptotic effects of oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol on human breast cancer MCF-7 cells.

Olive oil intake has been shown to induce significant levels of apoptosis in various cancer cells. These anti-cancer properties are thought to be mediated by phenolic compounds present in olive. These beneficial health effects of olive have been attributed, at least in part, to the presence of oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol. In this study, oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol, major phenolic compound o...
